Education officer Shamala found it impossible to lose weight on her own.
With life as a busy working mother, 45-year-old Shamala lived off fast food and described her entire life as a ‘buffet system’.

Here Shamala shares some insights into her old lifestyle and what she changed at Ultimate Performance to achieve her amazing transformation results.
What motivated you to start?
My motivation to join U.P. was simple; I just wanted to be healthy, lose weight and look good. Bad eating habits due to my busy lifestyle made me obese, and I tried a lot of diet plans to shed the extra pounds, but every effort was futile. Nothing was happening, and I just didn’t know what to do. I needed help. That’s why I’m here at U.P.
What was your lifestyle like before you started your transformation?
I work very long hours; my lifestyle was very sedentary. I depended a lot on processed food and fast food.
There was definitely no time for training because my focus was more on family and work.
I love apple cider, and I would have 2-3 bottles daily because of work exhaustion.
I never looked at the nutritional content and calories that were going into my body. My entire life was like a buffet system; I could eat and drink anything at any time of the day with no restrictions at all.
How has your lifestyle changed since starting at Ultimate Performance?
My lifestyle has changed massively. I am now making an effort to look at what I’m putting into my body.
I’m very careful with the macros; carbs, protein and fats. I have a proper structure when it comes to training. I try not to miss my training. I love weight training!
Did you expect to lose the amount of weight that you have?
U.P. is amazing! Trust me; this is a big dream come true. Losing so much weight in a short period of time is something I didn’t realise would happen to me.
When I saw the advertisements, I thought, “is this real?” I said, “okay, let’s give this a try.”
Of course, there were many challenges. I had to be very consistent, and my trainer was telling me that it could be done – he motivated me all the way, and I did it.
What other areas of your life have improved during the process?
When I came to U.P., I had quite a few health issues. I wanted to zoom into my lower back pain. My lower back pain has now totally vanished.
I really do not know what happened, but I think it is because of this entire customised program that my trainer has given me.
It has actually helped me a lot. I am much stronger, healthier and more resilient. Not just physically, but mentally as well. I can now do a lot of things that I could not do in the past.
What would you say to anyone who is considering coming to Ultimate Performance?
Seeing the massive weight come off is very motivating, and my trainer has done a lot of work together with me to help me achieve my first milestone in my fitness journey.
