Seven weeks is all it took for Mark to transform his body and build the lean, muscular physique he had always wanted.
He lost 6kg and almost halved his body fat to a super-lean 7.4% in less than two months, ready to walk down the aisle.
Mark, who lives in Fulham, says he now has the tools and the knowledge on diet and training to stay in excellent shape for life.

U.P. Mayfair Client of the Month Mark explains why working with his U.P. trainer eclipsed anything he’d experienced before.
What were your motivations for starting a transformation journey with U.P.?
My fiancé told me to get in shape for our wedding. She’s not to be trifled with.
How were you feeling physically and mentally before starting with U.P.?
I was feeling reasonably good before U.P. I’ve always been pretty active and had been doing a variety of different things, but was looking forward to the U.P. transformation ‘challenge’.
What was your diet and lifestyle like before you started your transformation with U.P.?
My diet was relatively good before I started…I don’t have a sweet tooth and very rarely snack on junk food like crisps or biscuits. But what I didn’t realise was that I was eating the wrong food proportions.
How did your diet and lifestyle change when you started your transformation with U.P.?
What really changed for me was portion sizing.
Previously two-thirds of any meal would be protein (particularly dinner), with about a third allocated to vegetables/salad. With U.P., it was probably a third protein and two-thirds vegetables or salad.
In addition, my coach introduced me to the concept of ‘carb cycling’ – switching between days of low, medium and high carbohydrate intake in order to induce rapid fat loss.
The effect was almost immediate, it was quite astonishing and I never really went hungry. The dietary guidance also instilled in me that making lots of what seem like relatively small and sensible dietary choices, can really add up.
What effect did this have on your health, performance, lifestyle and energy levels?
My energy levels were good and I felt far less bloated from just eating good nutritious food.
What was the one most important lifestyle change you made and how did it help achieve your transformation?
Just eating consistently well and being disciplined.
Once you realise that the time periods involved are relatively small in the general scheme of things, the guidance is relatively easy to adhere to.
How did you find the training and did it fit into your busy lifestyle?
The training was great, constantly varied and performed at a high-intensity level. By extension, the coaching was also first rate.
Personally, having seen a number of personal trainers over the years, I can honestly state that my U.P. trainer Barry, was really exceptional.
Barry, my trainer, is extremely knowledgeable – he gave me great advice on diet, but most importantly on maintaining proper form as I exercised, which you learn is the most vital aspect of weight training.
He was an excellent motivator – he always knew the right moment on when to push me right to my limits and when to hold off.
I also had a great laugh being coached by Barry, and genuinely looked forward to every session.
What were your results like after your transformation?
It’s very easy to adhere to the programme after the transformation once you’ve seen the results work for yourself…it is self-propagating.
What were the most important things you learned during your transformation?
Very simply, the right diet with the right macro proportions can have a huge impact on your physical appearance, health and well-being.
Would you recommend U.P. and why?
Absolutely. The training at U.P. is accessible to anybody. Everything can be scaled to fit the individual’s abilities.
