Alex walked into Ultimate Performance London City hoping to lose some extra weight; he left with a body that was way beyond his wildest dreams 14 weeks later.
It has been an incredible change in a short space of time for 31-year-old Alex.
Before U.P., he was living a classic sedentary office life, working as a City fund manager by day and a champagne importer by night.
He tried to be healthy, but didn’t know where to start with his diet, did little exercise and says he was drinking far too much alcohol.
Six months of healthy eating on his own left him little to show for all his hard work.
Fed up, he put his health and fitness goals in the hands of the experts at U.P.
Fourteen weeks of working with his U.P. trainer with a focussed training and diet plan has given him results that defy belief.
He’s fitter, stronger and in better shape than ever before after losing 15kg and putting on lean muscle.
“I went down from waist size 32 to 28. It was amazing to see that change.
“I started at 29% body fat and finished at 11.9%, even more than I was expecting. Achieving this and seeing the remarkable change made me wonder what else was possible.”
Alex had always wanted to be in better shape. But the body he wanted seemed out of reach.
Seeing his friend’s amazing transformation at U.P. was the catalyst to start his own journey.
“For a long time, I had wanted to be healthier and more athletic. I refused to believe that this was just something other people achieved.
“I had tried going to a gym and dieting in the past but was unsatisfied with the results. Progress was slow and never lasted.
“I wanted to change my life, to look the way I wanted to and live a more active life. A friend had tried U.P. and showed me what was possible, so I decided to give it a go!”
Alex had years of poor diet, inactivity and unhealthy lifestyle habits to breakthrough and overcome.
Too much alcohol, bad eating habits, and zero exercise had left him flabby and unfit at 31. But he was ready for a change.
“I had tried a more healthy diet in the six months prior to starting U.P. (to little effect).
“I now realise that the problem was that nothing was planned or tracked!”
His time at U.P gave him structure and control back over his diet. In fact, Alex claims his new eating habits as the biggest benefit to his time at U.P.
“I learned just how important diet is to the process. The main difference while on the programme was that diet and exercise became planned activities and were tracked.
“Planning ahead means fewer situations when I was forced to eat unhealthy food because there was no other option. I have continued to do this after the programme, and it continues to be a great help!”
At first, Alex was worried about how he would fit his new exercise regime into his busy lifestyle. But seeing results was its own motivation and Alex committed to his programme.
“Yes, five gym sessions per week sounds like a lot, but it felt much better to go for a quick session than sit on the couch for an hour, so I adapted very quickly and felt better for it.
“Results from the program came quick and motivated me to strive to achieve more, both in the gym with my PT and outside the gym.”
And a healthy body extends to a healthy mind – Alex saw more than just physical changes; the benefits of working out and eating right extended to other areas of his life as well.
“I started feeling younger, more athletic and more energetic. My mind felt sharper.
“My energy levels since starting the program are much higher. It seems counter-intuitive, but the more I worked out, the higher my energy levels were. It’s a really great motivator.
“As I was able to achieve more in the gym, I aspired to achieve more outside the gym, with great success. This sense of achievement boosted my confidence.”
For Alex, the results were not just physical but also psychological.
“Although weight loss will be the most visible change, U.P. isn’t just about looking better. I FEEL a lot better inside. I am thankful for the knowledge about diet and exercise that I was taught there.
“I feel more confident by myself in the gym, and I feel more confident about managing my diet now. I have been given the tools to carry on by myself.”
Alex admits he was sceptical about U.P.’s famous before and after results when he first started.
But now he’s living proof of the results that anyone can achieve at U.P.
